2006 WPA AWARDS

Western Psychological Foundation Student Scholarships are awarded to WPA Student Members who are the first authors of their presentations. Awards are based on the blind ratings of Abstracts by the Program Review Committee. All Submissions by WPA Student Member First Authors are automatically considered for scholarship awards. In 2006, the WPA Student Members listed below will receive awards of $400 each. Award amounts are dictated by contributions to the Student Scholarship Fund. The 2006 Scholarship winners are:

These Special Awards are funded by endowments created and supported by the individuals and institutions whose names appear in the title of the award.

Social Psychology Student Award

Awarded for outstanding student research in social psychology
Elizabeth Page-Gould, University of California, Berkeley

2006 Robert L. Solso Student Research Award
Awarded for outstanding research in psychology
Matt S. Canham, University of California, Santa Barbara

2006 Robert A. Hicks/Department of Psychology,
San Jose State University Student Award in Sleep Research
Leticia Mayoral, San Jose State University

Peter Bentler and Eric Wu, creators of the EQS Structual Equations Program, together with Multivariate Software, award $400 and an EQS computer program each year to a student who presents outstanding research at the WPA Convention. This year's winner of the Multivariate Software Award is Jenessa R. Shapiro, Arizona State University.

The WPA Fellows and Awards Committee, under the direction of Jeffery Scott Mio (Cal Poly Pomona) has also designated the recipients of the 2006 WPA Awards for Outstanding Teaching, Research, Service, and Lifetime Achievement.
